Kitten von Mew, vintage pin-up model specialising in 1930’s, 1940’s, 1950’s fashion and burlesque styles.

Kitten von Mew has loved vintage Hollywood glamour and cheesecake pin-ups ever since she was a little girl.

Determined to keep these era’s alive, Kitten von Mew has recreated them for your pleasure.

Kitten von Mew is a Vintage pin-up specialsing in the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s with a
little Burlesque to boot!

Her passion for these romantic eras started as a little girl, watching old movies on Sunday morning starring the likes of Fred & Ginger, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Dorris Day and Grace Kelly.  She loved the romance and longed to be one of the beautiful dancing women with fabulous costumes and curves!

Having an interest in the history of these era’s has also helped.  Kitten von Mew was intrigued by the way the 1930’s and 40’s were portrayed as such glamorous times by Hollywood, yet they were times cut deeply by war  and the Great Depression.  Morale was kept up by images of glamour, wealth, happiness and romance.

Pin-Ups were used in the war for keeping morale high in the regiments and as good luck charms for their fighter planes.  The closer to the front lines you got, the more risque the pictures seemed to become!

It wasn’t until the start of the New Year of 2003 that  Kitten’s dreams started to become reality.  Vintage clothing slowly took over her wardobe, she learnt the poses, practised the hairstyles and landed her first photoshoot with a local photographer.

In June the same year she contacted the famous Pin-Up Portal for advice, who took Kitten under their wing as their 1st UK Vintage Pin-Up and gave her incredible support and reassurance.

Since then Kitten von Mew has been working hard to keep a little bit of these eras alive and has found great support in the local media.  In 2005 she was the Face of Glamour at Blenheim Palace’s Festival of Flight and has been featured in national and international publications.  In February 2006 she was featured in the Daily Express and from this donations of seamed stockings have been sent in by kind and generous supporters!
